Review: Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone by J K Rowling

Review:

With this book we begin the well-known Harry Potter saga.

I was very excited to begin to delve into this universe, which I was really looking forward to, but for one reason or another, I never did.

What can be said about this story that is not already known?

In this first book we are introduced to the main characters such as Harry, Ron and Hermione. Secondary characters such as Malfoy, Neville, Hagrid...

In this first installment we are shown Harry's life in the care of his aunt and uncle and with his cousin Dudley (who, by the way, could not be more obnoxious).

We are shown how these people treat him, and on several occasions I felt very sorry for Harry.

But this changes when a Hogwarts acceptance letter arrives for Harry.

Faced with repeated attempts by his aunt and uncle to keep Harry from reading the letter, they leave their comfortable home to go to a cottage on a small island to avoid receiving these magical letters.

But Hagrid rescues Harry and takes him to Hogwarts, where he will make friends with Ron and Hermione.

But something strange is happening in this school of magic. Things that lead this trio to think that Professor Snape has something to do with it.

I loved this book. At first I felt like it was a childish book because of how Mr. and Mrs. Dursley were trying so hard to appear to be a normal, decent family.

It is narrated in a very comical way. However this changes by the end of the book, as it gets a little more frightening. Especially when a disturbing secret related to Voldemort is revealed.

It also made me feel very fond of Harry, he is a character that makes me love him and those scenes where his uncles and cousin treated him badly made me feel lousy.

On several occasions I was surprised and laughed. The way it is narrated is simple. The author doesn't spend too much time giving too many details like in other books, she goes to the point and does it in a way that looks very good.

In short, it is a highly recommended book. I didn't get the second part yet, I hope to do it soon and learn more about these endearing characters.
